File Preparation Phase of Desktop Publishing

How a desktop published document is created

By Jacci Howard Bear, About.com

After the document looks the way the desktop publisher wants it to look, it's time to make sure that it will print the way it is supposed to print. The file preparation phase is also known as the prepress phase. File preparation involves proofing the text and layout and verifying that everything needed to print the file is in the proper format.

Do the following file preparation tasks, as required. You'll find corresponding tutorials, exercises, or resources for further study, where available. Items identified with an * are not yet in lesson/tutorial format but do provide informational resources.
